Budaun District population



Budaun was the capital of Delhi Sultanate for four years from 1210 CE to 1214 CE during Sultan Iltutmish rule. It was the most important post of Northern Frontier during Mughal reign.   2. Basti, city, eastern Uttar Pradesh state, northern India. It lies about 35 miles (55 km) east of Faizabad on the Kuwana River, a tributary of the Ghaghara River.

    Basti is located on a national highway and a major rail line and is an agricultural trade centre with some industry at nearby villages. The city consists of three sections—Old Basti, extending east-west between the railway and the provincial road; Pukka Bazar, a suburb just southwest with official and professional residences; and the “civil station,” an administrative sector west of Pukka Bazar, on the Kuwana River. The city has a college affiliated with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University in Gorakhpur.

    Basti was small until 1865, when it became a district headquarters. Since then its population has greatly increased. The city lies in a region of alluvial plain that is poorly drained and contains a number of swamps and marshy lakes. Grains, sugarcane, and other crops are grown, in some places under irrigation. Pop. (2001) 107,601; (2011) 114,657.
